Gizmo review: price, free version and privacy

Our verdict

Gizmo fits students who review more when it feels like a game and who want to bring in material from many sources. Students who want a clear price for unlimited use, or who prefer not to share contacts and location, should compare other flashcard apps.

What Gizmo is

Gizmo turns imported material into flashcards and quizzes. Its import accepts photos of handwritten notes, PDFs, PowerPoint files, YouTube links, recorded lectures and decks from Quizlet and Anki. Reviews use spaced repetition and active recall, wrapped in a game with XP, hearts, leaderboards and study games.

What the free version does

The description lists free flashcards and free public decks. It does not say what is limited without Gizmo Unlimited, but the hearts and coin packs suggest some limits on play.
