Our verdict

This is a good low-cost start for beginners who want a structured path and early speaking practice. Learners past the basics, or anyone who wants an app without ads and tracking in the free version, should look at a larger course.

What Spanish Learning for Beginners is

This app from independent developer Vinh Tran is a step-by-step beginner Spanish course: 12 chapters and 83 lessons, from greetings to ordering food, directions and daily life. Each lesson moves through phrases, vocabulary, a simple grammar note, listening and a "Let's Talk" scene where you say your part out loud. The description says an AI coach scores every sentence and word and names the sound that went wrong. Flashcards with native audio and dozens of recorded dialogues for beginner to advanced learners round it out.

Who it suits

  • Learners on a tight budget
  • Complete beginners who want to speak early

Strengths

  • The cheapest paid plans on the AppsFor Spanish page, from $1.99 (monthly) to $4.99 (annual).
  • Speaking practice in short role-play scenes, with scores for each word, according to the description.
  • A clear course map with checkpoints, as the screenshots show.
  • Dialogues recorded by native speakers with Spanish and English side by side, which you can download.
  • Updated in October 2026 with the new course and speaking features, per the release notes.

Limits

  • The course covers everyday beginner topics only.
  • The free version shows ads (the age rating notes advertising).
  • The privacy label declares identifiers, usage data and diagnostics used for tracking.
  • Unlimited speaking practice, offline mode and background listening need Premium.
  • About 2,500 ratings, far fewer than the big language apps.

What the free version does

The description says you can start learning for free. Premium adds unlimited speaking practice, offline mode, background listening and removes ads, so the free version has ads and limited speaking practice.
