Songsterr review: price, free version and privacy

Our verdict

Songsterr is the best free way to learn real songs from accurate tabs. Beginners who cannot read tab yet, or who need technique lessons, should start with a course app.

What Songsterr is

Songsterr is a tab player, not a course. The description says its free version lets you view and play back all of its more than one million guitar, bass and drum tabs, with one accurate version per song. Many songs sync with the original audio or backing tracks, and a mixer adjusts each instrument. The subscription adds practice tools such as speed control, looping, solo, mute and pitch shifting.

Who it suits

• Guitarists who learn by playing real songs
• Bass and drum players who read tab

Strengths

• All tabs viewable and playable for free, according to the description
• Tabs synced with original audio for many songs, plus backing tracks
• Tabs for individual instruments, a mixer, a chromatic tuner and offline access to opened tabs
• No tracking declared, interface in 11 languages, updated in October 2026

Limits

• No lessons on technique or theory: you need to read tab already
• Speed control, looping, solo, mute and pitch shifting need the subscription
• The age rating notes advertising and user-generated content
• Contact info, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics are linked to you

What the free version does

The description says the free version lets you view and play back all tabs. Learning features such as speed control, loop, solo, mute and pitch shifting require a subscription.

Privacy

The privacy label declares no tracking. Contact info, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics are linked to your identity, and diagnostics are also collected without being linked.
