Knowt: AI Flashcards & Notes review: price, free version and privacy

Our verdict

Knowt is the easiest switch for a Quizlet user who wants the core study mode for free. If you want a focused spaced repetition app for long-term memory, or a clear single price, look at other flashcard apps.

What Knowt: AI Flashcards & Notes is

Knowt is a flashcard and study app for students. You make sets yourself, with AI, or import them from sites like Quizlet, then study with Learn, Practice Test, Match and Spaced Repetition modes. The description says Learn mode is free with unlimited rounds. AI tools turn notes, PDFs and lecture videos into flashcards, summaries and practice tests, and an Exams tab offers free AP study guides.

Who it suits

• A free Quizlet alternative
• Class tests and AP exams

Strengths

• Learn mode is free with unlimited rounds, according to the description.
• Imports sets from other sites, including Quizlet, per the description.
• AI PDF and video summarizer that can output notes or flashcards, as the screenshots show.
• Free AP study guides, flashcards and practice tests in the Exams tab.
• No tracking on the privacy label, and sync with the Knowt website.

Limits

• English only, per the listing.
• Eight Student Ultra items at different prices make the real cost hard to compare.
• The listing does not say which AI features need Student Ultra.
• Four data types are linked to your identity, including your content.
• Spaced repetition is one mode among several, so it suits class tests more than long-term review.

What the free version does

The description says Learn mode is free with unlimited rounds, and that AP study guides and student-made resources are free. It does not say how much AI use is included without Student Ultra.

Price

On the US App Store in November 2026, Student Ultra is listed at prices from $9.99 (weekly) to $149.99 (annual). Monthly items appear at $14.99, $19.99 and $24.99, and annual items at $59.99, $95.99, $119.99 and $149.99.

Privacy

The privacy label declares no tracking. Contact info, your content, identifiers and usage data are linked to your identity; diagnostics are collected without being linked to you.

What the screenshots show

The screenshots show a Learn round with a definition, multiple choice answers and an audio button, and an AI PDF Summarizer that asks whether to create notes or flashcards, in which language, at what length and in what structure.
