Our verdict

Pick ChordBank if you want to learn and look up chords with feedback from your own guitar. If you want a complete song-based course or your device runs an iOS version below 18.6, look elsewhere.

What ChordBank is

ChordBank started as a chord library and now includes lessons. The description lists 14,000+ hand-curated chord fingerings, a Chord Coach that listens through the microphone, games and flashcards, a tuner that says which peg to turn, a reverse chord finder and video lessons from Berklee-trained teachers. The April 2026 update rebuilt the lessons into units from first chords to alternate tunings.

Who it suits

  • Learning guitar chords
  • A chord reference with feedback

Strengths

  • The chord library is free for all users, per the description
  • A microphone-based Chord Coach and games give feedback on your real guitar
  • Left-handed mode, custom tunings, a metronome and backing tracks
  • No tracking and no data linked to you

Limits

  • Requires iOS 18.6
  • The age rating notes advertising, and the description says the membership removes ads
  • The description quotes $47.90 a year, while the price list shows a ChordBank Pro Yearly item at $35.99
  • Narrower than a full guitar course

What the free version does
